I always said the best therapy for the soul is travelling. That, and a lovely bath. This time I had plenty of both while visiting Bali, Indonesia. I will soon tell you more about our amazing experience, but firstly I wanted to share with you the first thing I learnt from this island: to unwind. I also wanted to feature my most worn item on this holiday. Island life can’t go without beachwear, right?
I’m wearing this gorgeous Forever Unique kaftan, which goes too well with my drink hihi. I got it from UK Swimwear, an online beachwear brand based in the UK. If you’re planning a holiday abroad, they’ll have everything you need. I love their wide brand portfolio, with different sizes and fits especially for the bust area – which many of us struggle with.
We live in a society where it’s cool to be busy, everything is on your phone at all times. There’s no time to relax or just let things go. There’s always something happening, someone calling, texting, emailing, stressing. And I just feel it’s harder and harder to detach from all this madness. Mainly because of this silly mobile phone. A different continent, and a hotel with this gorgeous view were just what I needed to let go of everything and just relax. I started writing in my journal again, I discovered some new things about me and I came back full of energy, ambition and some new goals. That’s what travelling does to me, that’s why I love it so much.
I’ll be honest with you. I don’t like to plan my holidays too much, I like to go with the flow and often make random decisions. It always turns out to be amazing, so why change my strategy? That’s kind of what happened to our trip to Sicily – it all started with finding very cheap flights via Ryanair. Once we booked the flights, we started doing some research and decided on an itinerary. So if you’re like me, here are 5 quick and easy tips you need to remember when travelling to Sicily:
Make sure to travel around the island as it’s so different and has so much to offer. Our itinerary was: Palermo – Cefalu – Taormina – Etna – Palermo. I have to say that every location has its own beauty and you don’t need more than a day to spend in any of these places. You can if you want to, but you can see enough in a day.
Food & Drinks
If you’re on a diet you might as well not go. The food is de-li-cious! Plenty of fresh seafood, prepared in different ways, accompanied by the best wines. If you don’t fancy the sea food, well, let me state the obvious: pizza & pasta! The only regret I have about our trip was that we didn’t eat more, and I’m not even joking. They also have the best ice-creams, fresh fruits and Cannoli, which is a traditional Sicilian desert best described as heaven. I realised I haven’t got any pictures of my Cannoli’s (which I think were 10 over the course of 2 days) and that’s because they were too delicious, I couldn’t take 2 minutes to snap a picture.
Prices in Sicily vary depending on the places. Except Taormina, everything is pretty much affordable and quite on the cheap side. Taormina however is a bit pricier, being the most touristy place. It is very good for buying souvenirs though, but I’ll cover this subject more in the Shopping section. Make sure you have cash available, there’s not many ATMs available and it feels like it’s safer to pay cash rather than card in most of these places (if you know what I mean). One big spent will be the accommodation, don’t be afraid to check out B&Bs – people are very friendly and prices tend to be much lower.
Best option is to rent a car – it gives you the freedom to move around the island and it’s quite affordable. However, be aware of the driving there! Around the East coast was brilliant, lovely sceneries and lovely roads. It was all great until we arrived in Palermo and we were just shocked – as my friends put it: like driving in India but maybe not as hectic. Or as the guide book put it: Driving in Palermo requires nerves of steel. I may add: and a car of steel, so you don’t get crushed by everyone else around you.
Sicily is a great place to buy some souvenirs: olive oil, pistachio cream and liquor, herbs, Cannoli, wine and kitchen accessories. They have the prettiest handmade ceramics, all with lemon and fruit patterns, very Sicilian like. I would also emphasise on the pistachio cream – is like Nutella but with pistachios – heaven in a jar! Make sure to keep some cash for these souvenirs – I spent about £100 with presents included. I bought all the kitchen bits and lemon soaps from Taormina. I had to buy all the food from the airport as I only had a hand luggage, but next time I’m getting a big luggage and get my food from local shops – cheaper and tastier!
Last advice I can give you – make sure to make the most out of the trip, walk around the small streets with beautiful architecture, enjoy a drink in one of those fancy hotels overlooking the water, swim in the most clear and blue water I have ever seen so far, don’t worry about the calories and make sure to indulge in their cuisine.
Croatia is a great place to enjoy your summer vacation. Besides the sea and the wonderful weather, there are other things to do, to make your holiday more interesting. I must say that we spent most of our time relaxing at the sea side, as we all wanted to do this: relax. But there’s definitely a lot to do if you want, have the time and, yes, money!
Am plecat in Croatia cu gandul de-a ne relaxa, in principal.
Many of you may now that the beach is beautiful, however full of rocks. So don’t forget to take with you some plastic shoes/sandals. If you don’t have any, no worries! The shops have dozens of different types of shoes for water. Another risk is to step on a hedgehog, which can be really painful. So don’t forget about the shoes! And yes, some goggles may help you swim better or look at those cute fishes.
Am incercat sa-i atrag cu paine, ca in Ibiza (click aici pentru a vedea filmuletul), insa astia erau ceva mai fricosi parca.
We took the boat to Dubrovnik and we stayed there for one day. We visited the old city, which was really beautiful. I have a thing for these old cities, I fell they’re romantic and I just enjoy walking around them. Here you’ll find tones of restaurants and souvenir shops. I personally believe the souvenirs were too expensive.. I chose to buy some from other places (supermarkets, other cities) and ended up paying around three times less. And for visiting museums, it’s cheaper if you buy one ticket first and you can use it for more locations. Here is a link with more information.
Insa asta doar in cazul suvenirurilor! The food was nice as well, we ate their traditional Cevapcici and Purgerica, some different types of fish and we tasted some wine and the local spirit (Rakija). Most restaurants had a menu outside so you could see whether you’d like their food, or prices. The staff was also very polite and welcoming, so every time we felt comfortable and enjoyed our meals.
Mancarea mi-a placut!
I really liked this country: beautiful landscapes, clean water, polite people, good food, good prices, lovely weather – great Holiday!
Mi-a placut mult Croatia: peisaj deosebit, apa curata, oamenii amabili, mancarea buna, preturile bune, vremea placuta – o vacanta grozava!

Last time I visited London was during a cold and rainy winter. I thought to myself I need to go back during summer, to really enjoy the beautiful city. And I was right, this awesome summer made everything look and feel better. It was more crowded than expected, but we were able to walk a lot and discover more Londoner beauties. I find it difficult to do a review about such a famous place. But I’ll try and share some things that I, for example, did not find online when reading about London. First of all, there’s so many things to see and do, and it’s hard to say that something is better than other. That’s why I recommend you to read about the main places (at least) and think of what interests you. Then do a plan with a map to see where you want to go. We used the underground to travel – cheap and fast. However, for the first time in my life, I almost cooked myself in the train.. I believe there was no air conditioning, but I wasn’t expecting this. Every time I took the tube, it was nice and cool, but it seems that the hot weather was too much for London’s underground.
Cand am vizitat Londra ultima data (si prima) era Februarie…frig si greu am rezistat pe-afara. Si-am avut dreptate, imi place Londra mai mult acum decat data trecuta. Totu-i mai frumos pe soare!
Try and visit the major buildings and if you have extra time, see the Museums – the majority are free! I’m saying this because London can become an extremely expensive Holiday. I don’t think it’s new to say that it’s a very expensive city. But don’t worry, there’s plenty to do and visit without paying. The only think you can’t avoid is paying for transport, as you can’t see much on foot only. We paid 8 Pounds for one Underground DayTicket.
Don’t forget the comfy shoes! You’re gonna walk and walk and walk. And don’t forget to see the changing of the guards at the Buckingham Palace. It starts at around 11.30 but it’s not every day (it depends on the season). Check first online to be sure you’ll catch it and embrace yourself to see many many people. We haven’t had time to visit any museums this time, but I went last time to the British Museum and I was amazed. So I definitely recommend it, but reserve at least half a day for it. It’s the minimum you can spend there, in my opinion. There are also other museums as well, it all depends on what interests you most.
E imens!
London has many historical buildings but don’t forget to check the modern places as well. There’s the central part, close to the Tower of London together with the city hall, but there’s also an area with many banks and offices at the Canary Wharf. Now, I didn’t take many pictures, but if you put these words on Google Images, you’ll be amazed! Try it!
London is a great place to go shopping, as one of the fashion centers in Europe. And it’s about the whole shopping experience that makes it special. However, we had no time left to go shopping. For us, visiting the city is always a priority. But hei, now I’ve got a new reason to go back!
Let me know if you want me to give you more details! I wanted to keep this post short, but I’m happy to share! 🙂
