How to Bring Autumn (Fall) in your Home

autumn fall home decor

EN  I probably said this before, but I don’t have a favourite season. I love all seasons, I grew up lucky enough to live in a country with four proper seasons. So my favourite time of the year is the beginning of every season. I love change, it gives me the opportunity to change my home decor, to come up with creative ideas for cooking, to change my wardrobe, to get excited over everything basically. So I thought I’ll share with you some easy ideas to make your home more cozy and in line with the autumn season.

——————-

Fiecare anotimp are ceva aparte si cred ca asta-mi lipeste cel mai mult in Anglia – varietatea.

1. Take out your pillows and blankets – the more, the better!

autumn fall home decor2. Put some books on your bedside table – autumn is about spending time indoors, reading more. And if you see the books more often, it will inspire you more to grab one and read it.

4. Store your leaf tea in jars, just use old jars and paper tissue for a minimal cost.

4. Pastreaza ceaiul in borcane. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

5. Bake more using apples and cinnamon, your whole house will smell amazing! I also like to open oranges and use walnuts for decor.

At the pool: DIY Cover up

calvin klein swimsuit ray ban sunglassesEN   I got a dress from a friend and didn’t have the chance to wear it. And then I thought it’s the perfect item to do a small DIY project. What I did, I cut the fabric on the inside and I left only the outside bit which is very see through. But I made this in order to transform the dress into a cover up for my swimsuit. In the end it turned out to be extremely practical: long to cover my legs from the sun, very flowy so I never felt too warm, and it got dry in seconds. I am really happy with the result. On the market, something like this will cost me about 30 Pounds, and it wouldn’t be something original either.

Nu stiu cum e acasa, insa in Anglia rochitele semitransparente in stil cover up sunt foarte in voga. Eu sunt foarte multumita de rezultat si m-am gandit ca poate va dau si voua niste idei – poate aveti ceva rochii lungi (sau fuste) mai vechi care stau in dulap nepurtate. swimming pool swimming pool outfit cover up diy cover up poolcalvin klein swimsuit pool outfit calvin klein swimsuit ray ban sunglasses

DIY: recycling two shirts

As I mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to start doing some DIY projects with clothes that are too small but in a bad condition to give them away. I found two shirts of Dan that both have been damaged on the sleeves so I thought I’ll do something with them. Because I have no sewing skills, I started with something very basic: just cutting the sleeves and wearing them differently. I filmed everything as I think it gives you a better idea of how easy it is. The movie is quite explanatory, but feel free to ask me anything is you need more information. Thank you and enjoy!

——————–

Tip Thursday: Recycling old Tshirts

DIY backless top pink summer We all have some Tshirts and tops that we’re kind of bored of them. And sometimes we can easily ‘update’ them by adding something new. That’s what I did with a plain Tshirt yesterday: I cut the back of it and added some fine fabric. Because I didn’t have something like a cordon (or something similar), I cut a small piece from my scarf. After that, I took one pen and started to make small marks on the back of the Tshirt: I planned to cut out from the Tshirt approximately 7 cm (2.8 inches). I also marked the holes I was going to cut for the scarf. After I cut everything, I put the scarf like shoe laces and that was all! I’ve took photos to show you the progress, if you have more questions, don’t hesitate to leave me a comment! But I may say it’s a very easy project.

DIY: tea leaves in jars

autumn colours

If you wonder what I’ve done lately, the answer is: a lot! There were some busy, but rewarding days and now I’ve finally found some time to share with you my last DIY project: Tea leaves in jars. I know, it’s not a very big discovery… but I think it looks very nice and it’s a great way to keep it, for those who love to drink tea made of leaves. I prefer to buy leaf tea as it tastes good and I get to mix it every time. However, the original packaging is often simple and not very interesting. So here’s my simple, cheap and cute way of keeping my tea on the shelves 🙂 I’m not ready yet, I still need to fill some more jars, but I wanted to show you how it looks so far.

——————-

Daca va-ntrebati ce-am facut in ultima vreme, raspunsul e: multeee si marunte! In Romania gasiti frunze la magazinele naturiste, la farmacii, in supermarket – in multe locuri! De-aceea am ales sa-mi aranjez ceaiul in borcane. Inca n-am terminat, dar n-am avut rabdare: a trebuit sa va arat progresul pana acum!

DIY: Jewelry Boxes

Now I know that we all can have a lot of jewelry and perhaps have already invested in a nice jewelry box to store everything. But I remember when I moved to the Netherlands for five months, or when I went to Uni, I didn’t have enough room for everything and I had to be creative. So this post is mostly for those who want to organise a little their jewelry without investing in a jewelry box, thinking that in a couple of months they will move again and probably change their room design.

————–

De exemplu, cand am mers la facultate m-am mutat in fiecare an. Am avut spatiu putin si nu am vrut sa investesc in nimic.

DIY jewelry boxI have gathered many types of coloured paper, which I usually buy from craft shops. I’ve seen cheap ones at the Works shop.

————–

Coloured paper I choose a paper and cut it to fit the box. I applied it with a bit of glue. I then stung the earrings in the paper and they won’t fall also because of the sponge underneath.

—————

Apoi am ‘intepat’ hartia cu fiecare cercel in parte.

The idea is to keep it simple, when you do not have the budget or space. Just look for what you have already and try and create something out of it. What do you think? 🙂

DIY: The mirrored box

DIY: The Mirrored BoxYes, you’ve heard well! Another DIY! I’ve spent my Friday redecorating some of my things and ended up creating three beautiful boxes. Today I’m showing you one that I decorated with mirror pieces. I used it to put my nail polish in. What you need? A paper box (you decide the size), mirror pieces and glue. And Creativity! Here we go…

—————-

Vinerea asta mi-am redecorat putin lucrurile prin camera si-am facut trei cutiute dragute pentru a-mi pune in ele una alta.
DIY: The Mirrored BoxDIY the mirrored box         I bought the mirror from the Works shop (1 Pound 24 pieces). – find them here

——————

Nu stiu unde s-ar putea gasi in Romania bucatele mici gata taiate. Poate Jysk? Magazinele chinezesti?
DIY: the mirrored box DIY mirror boxDIY the mirrored box

*Tip: In case you can’t find pieces of mirror: Use an old mirror from a make-up box that’s finished/you don’t use anymore and smash the pieces. The entire box will be covered in irregular sizes of pieces, which can be very interesting.

—————–

DIY – The White Bottles

DIY white bottles I’ve had an idea recently to paint some bottles in white, to use them as candles holders. It all started when we got a white bottle of Islena – The Beer of Ibiza, when we were on Holiday. I decided to bring it home with me and make more bottles myself for decorating the new place. I’ve finally found some time and determination to do the bottles. The thing that put me off was the cleaning of those nasty labels from the bottles. But I rapidly found a solution: hot water and a hard sponge like this one here. It was quite easy to clean them like this, but it’s not the best treatment for your hands. However, it should last 5 mins for 4 bottles, so it’s not that bad. I know it’s not the most original idea..after checking online I found a lot of similar projects. Anyhow, this is my version and I hope you’ll enjoy it!DIY inspiration

De ceva vreme tot am in minte sa vopsesc niste sticle in alb, pentru a le folosi ca suport la lumanari. Mi-a venit ideea cand eram in Ibiza si savuram o bere locala (Islena) intr-o sticla alba. Stiu ca nu e cel mai original proiect, insa va ofer versiunea mea, poate va inspir!DIY white bottlesDIY white bottle– Use the magazine/newspaper to cover the surrounding area so you can protect it

– You can find the paint spray in big stores with housing and gardening products

DIY white bottlesYou can see that the paint wasn’t spread even. Maybe also because of my zero experience with this. However, I think it looks quite nice like this! What do you think?

Ce credeti?DIY white bottlesHere you have another easy idea, totally different from mine:

DIY: living room Table

Hello there! I have recently moved to a new place and I am really into decorating these days. And because I’ve got such great ideas (and modesty), I wanted to share something with you! This post is more for those who, like me, live on a student budget, who want to have a nice and cozy home but without investing in furniture, especially when you’re renting. Because of this reason, I wanted to create a practical table that I can use for my magazines, mail, coffee and tea, next to my sofa. I’m not saying it’s the best solution, but I had some things I really didn’t need, so I tried to find a way to make them more useful: a table.

DOY table living roomDIY table living room

Now, you can stop here with the design, or take it even further. I added some things I had to store somewhere and this seemed the best idea.

DIY table (Blog Andra Dorolti)

I have chosen these to make the table, as I really don’t need to use them. And if there’s a special event and I need an extra chair, it takes around 1 minute to disassemble everything. This applies also for the wooden board. I know it’s not the fanciest design, but it’s a practical way to use things you don’t usually need. I hope you liked the idea 🙂

🙂 DIY Table - Blog Andra DoroltiI would be really grateful if you could leave me some feedback about my blog here. It’s a small survey with some questions about the blog (anonymous)  – it takes 2 minutes.

Thank you!

V-as fi foarte recunoscatoare daca mi-ati oferi feedback despre blog, aici. E un mic chestionar despre blog (raspunsuri anonime) – dureaza cam 2 minute.

Multumesc mult!

My first official DIY!

backless Tshirt

I think DIY projects are so cool! So I had to try something too. For my first attempt, I chose to make a sleeveless T-shirt, with fringes in the back. First of all, I chose a T-shirt I knew I won’t feel bad if I ruin it: I asked Dan to give me one of his! (hihihi). Follow the pictures to see what I did!

Imi plac proiectele DIY(do it yourself), asa ca m-am hotarat sa fac si eu unul!

backless DIY TshirtDIY TshirtDIY Backless TShirt

As I anticipated, it wasn’t a success! The back is fine, but the front.. there’s too much cleavage! So I won’t wear it outside. I’ll use it at the gym, on top of another top.
